This print of: William Innes, Blackheaths captain and the caddie a greenwich Hospital pensioner is a rare type of print called Platinotype and was printed in 1893(The original mezzotint of this, was the first ever golf print to be printed in 1790) apparently the plantinotype  is a photographic rather than a printed image. The text shown on print reads as follows: Painted by L.F.Abbott,(1760-1803)1790. Engraved by V.Green.Mezzotint engraver to his Majesty and the Elector Palantine. TO THE SOCIETY OF GOFFERS AT BLACKHEATH. This plate is with just respect dedicated by their most humble servant. Lemuel Francis Abbott. Size of frame approx: 700mmx870mm. In 1990 I had this print cleaned by professional print restorers because of slight foxing. The original oak frame was  painted black by  but could easily be restored to its original  oak colour if required by new owners.

PP37 ref:901500. Original Black and Gilt Frame Circa 1740Condition Excellent.
